'Today's Air Force' features dignified transfers

  • Published
This edition of "Today's Air Force" highlights the new policy for the transfer of fallen military members, a Purple Heart Medal recipient, a winter sports clinic for the disabled and a smoldering type of training: firefighting.

A new policy has been approved by Secretary of Defense Robert Gates which, with the family's consent, allows media to photograph or film the return of a fallen hero.

Also featured is another hero, who after being hit by a stray bullet was awarded one of the highest honors for the Air Force, the Purple Heart Medal.

Also, see how a positive attitude is essential in achieving goals. Experience the excitement of visiting a winter sports clinic where vets are given hope for the future with a little fun along the way.

Finally, come visit an air base in the Persian Gulf Region where firefighters train to meet the demands of their mission.

The 30-minute, weekly news show can be seen every day on The Pentagon Channel, American Forces Radio and Television Service stations around the world, and is available via podcast at http://www.af.mil/library/podcast.asp.
