Members of Dover Air Force Base and McGuire AFB, N.J., raised $1,500 for the Combined Federal Campaign in the first-ever ice hockey fundraiser Jan. 13 in Philadelphia.

The event drew about 300 spectators and saw the Dover AFB team topple McGuire AFB's team 9-4.

Michael Ramos, one of the offensive wings for McGuire AFB, worked hand-in-hand with Dover AFB's Nicholas Koskivacirca to organize the inaugural wing challenge.

"The money we raised surpassed what we thought we'd end up with," Mr. Ramos said. "We're happy with the outcome."

"This hockey game is really all about helping someone else, the camaraderie and having fun doing it all. We have plans to make this an annual competition," Mr. Koskivacirca said.
