Bioenvironmental engineers keep Airmen safe
Tech. Sgt. Melissa Saraiva and Capt. Charles Toth check monitoring devices April 13 at Balad Air Base, Iraq, for common pesticides and other environmental hazardous chemicals in the air. Captain Toth is the bioenvironmental engineer flight commander and Sergeant Saraiva is the flight NCOIC. Bioenvironmental engineers perform environmental, occupational and radiological surveillance in order to protect and maintain a healthy work force, and they serve as mission enhancers during emergency management response operations.
