Bioenvironmental engineers keep Airmen safe
Tech. Sgt. Melissa Saraiva checks a monitoring device April 13 at Balad Air Base, Iraq, for common pesticides and other environmental hazardous chemicals in the air. Sergeant Saraiva is the bioenvironmental engineer flight NCOIC. Bioenvironmental engineers perform environmental, occupational and radiological surveillance in order to protect and maintain a healthy work force, and they serve as mission enhancers during emergency management response operations.
