Senior Letricia Castillo (Anchorage, Alaska) gave the Falcons an early 5-0 advantage, but the Lobos responded with an 11-0 run to take the lead. New Mexico was up by as many as nine points in the first period, but Air Force got as close as 22-20 following a Castillo three-pointer. Still, the Lobos outscored the Falcons 7-2 to end the half, taking a 29-22 lead into intermission.

The Lobos opened the second half with four unanswered points to extend their lead to 11, but Air Force came back to cut the margin back to nine. However, the Falcons were unable to get any closer, with the Lobos eventually leading by as many as 16 points. New Mexico's biggest advantage came at the free throw line, where the Lobos connected on 18 of 21 shots, while the Falcons attempted just 10 free throws in the game. Air Force outrebounded New Mexico, 28-25, but committed 23 turnovers in the contest.
