Fighting the war on terrorism knows no season and Kadena Airmen such as Senior Airman Jane Min-Hee Wyatt, an intelligence analyst with the 18th Operations Support Squadron, is either out-processing for an upcoming deployment or on her way to a forward location.

The Aurora, Colo., native was hoping to spend her first holiday as a married couple with her husband, Senior Airman Brandon Wyatt, a communications Airman stationed at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. Instead, she is preparing for a deployment to Iraq and making life safe for her parents, Steve and Ok Kyong Kim, back in Aurora.

"It's difficult, but [deployments and being away from family] happen," the 2001 Smoky Hill High School graduate said. "After some time, you have no choice but to get used to it. However, it doesn't mean it gets any easier."

Like Airmen in Iraq, Afghanistan, Europe, the Pacific, other world hot spots and across the nation during the holiday season, Airman Wyatt knows about sacrifice. Airmen are warfighters. They are highly trained, skilled and valued members of the force fighting the war on terror. They are always ready to do their job, no matter what day it is. Also, Airman Wyatt won't be alone; she will turn to her Air Force family for support.

"What will help me get through the holidays is knowing there is hope my husband will be able to join me in Japan after I return," said the veteran of nearly five years.

Staying busy and focused on her deployment as well as working toward her associate's degree with the Community College of the Air Force, will also help Airman Wyatt make it through the holidays.
