Airmen from U.S. Air Forces in Europe recently visited the RAF Lakenheath Middle School to help further the students' education.

The Airmen, members of “Headwinds,” USAFE's wind quintet ensemble, are visiting the school as part of Music in our Schools Month program, which affects schools all over Europe.

“(Music) stimulates the creative side of the brain and lets kids create and not just be learning out of a book,” said Master Sgt. Cindy Swanson, USAFE Band’s woodwind quintet oboe player.

The Airmen shared both their knowledge and their musical talents with the students. Their talent was displayed during a complimentary performance and demonstration of the instruments they play.

Music in our Schools Month began in 1973 as a one-day celebration in one state. Today, it has grown into a worldwide, month-long program designed to “inspire creativity through music in our schools,” according to Music Educators’ National Conference officials.
