Officers, civilians selected for developmental education

More than 1,100 officers and civilians will attend intermediate and senior developmental education programs during the academic 2006-07 year, Air Force Personnel Center officials announced.

The Intermediate and Senior Developmental Education Center Designation Board met Sept. 14-16 to select line and nonline officers to attend in-residence developmental education. The Civilian Developmental Education Board met Sept. 27-30 to select candidates for developmental education.

The DEDB process began in February when senior raters nominated more than 3,900 officers for developmental education. Nominees then went forward to developmental teams who selected primary candidates and alternates, and put them in one of the programs.

Teams used each candidate's development plan to understand the candidate's and commander's desires about the next best developmental assignment and future career plans. This was the second year teams ranked their officers and provided school vectors to the DEDB.

The DEDB took the rank-ordered lists, consisting of more than 1,500 officers, from the 28 developmental teams and merged them to fill 750 IDE and 254 SDE seats. More than 95 percent of the officers will attend the schools recommended for them by their developmental team. More than half of the IDE attendees selected to attend school next year are candidates.

Line officers nominated to the DEDB by their developmental teams and not selected as primary designees were identified as alternates. Alternates may be eligible for possible supplemental school selection.

The complete list of primary designees and alternates will be displayed on the AFPC Web site http://www.afpc.randolph.af.mil/fdso/DPAFE.htm on Oct. 17.

Civilian designees and alternates will also be displayed Oct. 17 at http://www.afpc.randolph.af.mil/cp/.
