Armed services recruiting information, including that of the reserve components, now will be made available to the public on the 10th day of each month, a Pentagon spokeswoman said June 2.

For example, military recruiting data for May will be available on June 10, Lt. Col. Ellen Krenke said.

The change was made to ensure a more consistent release of recruiting information, Colonel Krenke said. That was not necessarily the case under the previous policy, she said.

In the past, recruiting information usually was available to the public on the first day of each month, Colonel Krenke said. However, reserve component data sometimes was not available until the middle of the month, she said.

"The service personnel chiefs have said that they can have their numbers ready by the 10th of each month, and that's what we're going to do," Colonel Krenke said.

The change also provides DOD leaders more time to review recruiting data before it is released, she said.

"Military recruiting is instrumental to our readiness and merits the earliest release of data," Colonel Krenke said. However, "this information must be reasonably scrutinized" by DOD leaders before it is released to the public, she said.
