Unable to regroup from a 19-point halftime deficit, the Air Force Academy women’s basketball team fell to the State University of New York at Albany team, 86-65, on Nov. 27 in the consolation game of the Northern Arizona Thanksgiving Tournament here.

A day after going 0-15 from beyond the arc, the Falcons were able to find their touch from long range, hitting 11 three-pointers in this game, including eight before intermission. However, 25 first-half points by Albany’s Jen Schumacher, who hit 7-of-8 three-pointers in the opening period, gave the Great Danes a 54-35 lead at the break.

Though the Falcons held Schumacher to just 6 points in the second half, they could never recover from her explosive first-half, coming no closer than 16 points for the remainder of the game. They did have the advantage on the boards for the fourth straight game, but shot just over 34 percent in the final period and let Albany get 15 steals in the contest.

Pamela Findlay led Air Force in scoring for the second time this season, notching 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 3 three-pointers. Other Falcons scoring in double digits included captains Jennifer Roesch and Letricia Castillo, who both knocked down three treys on their way to 11 points each. Additionally, Alecia Steele recorded a double-double for the second straight game with 10 points and 10 rebounds. For her efforts, Steele was the lone Falcon named to the all-tournament team.

The Falcons play again Dec. 2, when they visit the University of Portland.
