Pachari Lutke and Joy Josephson spent a week in the Kyrgyz Republic, reporting on the Air Force mission in this former Soviet territory and how Airmen there are supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.Sergeant Josephson presents an overview of Manas Air Base, and how it serves as a vital supply link for troops in Afghanistan. Sergeant Lutke goes on patrol with security forces to show how they keep the perimeter of the base safe from insurgents and, at the same time, foster relations with local people.Sergeant Lutke and Staff Sgt. Mike Tateishi are at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., as Hurricane Ivan makes landfall. Sergeant Lutke reports on how Keesler and other Air Force bases in Florida batten down for the storm. Sergeant Tateishi has a story on the hurricane’s damage.Meanwhile, Staff Sgt. John Anderson reports from the Air Force Association’s 2004 Air and Space Conference and Technology Exposition in Washington where Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. John P. Jumper said the Air Force will reduce its fighter and strike aircraft fleet.Staff Sgt. Leigh Bellinger is at Columbus AFB, Miss., to profile pilot school graduates who stay behind to teach student pilots.Staff Sgt. Marty Rush reports from Lajes Field, Azores, on a young Airman whose scores on the links make her an excellent candidate for a future in golf. And, on the subject of golf, Tech. Sgt.
