MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. (AFPN) -- Four Airmen were recognized for outstanding leadership while attending Air University schools during an awards ceremony here May 25.

The Secretary of the Air Force Leadership Award recognizes those who demonstrated the greatest leadership while students at Air University schools.

Recipients were:

-- Master Sgt. Sharif Rahim of the 335th Training Squadron’s manpower and personnel training flight at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. He attended the Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy from July 21 to Sept. 4.

-- Capt. Patrick Farrell of the 33rd Fighter Squadron at Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. He attended Squadron Officer School from Nov. 3 to Dec. 10.

-- Maj. Mitchell Monroe of the 721st Air Mobility Squadron at McGuire AFB, N.J. He is currently class president of Air Command and Staff College.

-- Lt. Col. James Vechery of U.S. Transportation Command headquarters at Scott AFB, Ill. He attended Air War College from July 28 to June 1.

“I’m very proud of their superior performance in a demanding curriculum,” said Secretary of the Air Force Dr. James G. Roche. “They represent the extraordinary Airmen and civilians serving America's Air Force every day around the world. Our developmental education system is growing leaders capable of taking America's Air Force to the next level. These awards recognize Airmen who are at the leading edge of doing just that.” (Courtesy of Air Education and Training Command News Service)
