Coalition aircraft strike two Iraqi targets

Two coalition aircraft used laser-guided munitions to target a communications site west of Baghdad, while coalition aircraft with precision-guided munitions targeted a regime office complex in eastern Baghdad. Both strikes occurred April 1.

The communication strike was directed against a radio relay facility near Ar Rutbah, approximately 200 miles west of Baghdad. The office complex served as a location for regime leaders and housed the Iraqi National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Youth.

Defense officials said the strikes were meant to erode the command and control capabilities of regime leaders.
