Air Force releases senior master sergeant promotion cycle statistics

The Air Force has selected 1,549 master sergeants for promotion to senior master sergeant out of 13,054 eligible for a selection rate of 11.87 percent in the 18E8 promotion cycle.

The average overall score for those selected was 489.95. Selectees’ average time in grade was 3.92 years and time in service was 18.01 years. The average decorations score was 19.99 and the average United States Air Force Supervisory Exam score was 76.28. The average board score was 393.68.

The senior master sergeant promotion list is available on the Enlisted Promotions page of the Air Force’s Personnel Center website, the Air Force Portal and myPers. Airmen can access their score notices on the virtual Military Personnel Flight via AFPC’s secure applications page.

Those selected will be promoted beginning April 1 according to their promotion sequence number. Prior to posting the list on myPers, AFPC provided commanders, senior raters and trusted agents with advanced knowledge of their Airmen’s selection with the intention that selects be notified no earlier than one day before the public release.
