Readout of U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr.’s travel to Latvia

U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr. traveled to Latvia Dec. 19-20 and met with Latvia’s Minister of Defense Inara Murniece, Chief of Defense Lt. Gen. Leonīds Kalniņš, and Air Force Commander Col. Viesturs Masulis. 

During these meetings, Brown emphasized the importance of the strong and enduring U.S.-Latvia partnership and its crucial contributions to NATO and Baltic security. He also expressed appreciation to Latvia for its generous support to Ukraine as it counters Russian aggression and voiced continued U.S. commitment to supporting regional security in Europe. 


The two sides additionally discussed Latvian defense modernization, integrated air and missile defense, and opportunities for further security cooperation.  

Brown also met with U.S. Ambassador John Carwile and U.S. military members serving at the embassy in Riga.
