(AFNS) -- Two F-16C Fighting Falcons, assigned to the 113th Wing, D.C. Air National Guard were involved in a mid-air collision at approximately 11 p.m., Aug. 1, while on a routine training mission off the coast of Chincoteague, Va. One pilot ejected safely from his aircraft, and was recovered by the U.S. Coast Guard. The other pilot was able to return to base in his aircraft. Both pilots were transported to a medical facility here on base. One pilot was released and the other was released to an offsite medical facility for minor injuries. The cause of the mishap is under investigation.
