The U.S. Air Force and Navy Honor Guard Drill Team pay tribute to retired Gen. David C. Jones as he is laid to rest Oct. 25, 2013, at Arlington National Cemetery, Va. Jones served four years as chief of staff of the Air Force from 1974 to 1978 until he was appointed as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, June 21, 1978. As chairman, he served as the senior military adviser to the president, the National Security Council and the secretary of defense. During the Korean War, Jones was assigned to a bombardment squadron where he accumulated more than 300 flight hours on missions over North Korea.
