Shawna Kibbles, the AFPC medical accessions and personnel programs manager."Officers who believe they are eligible who do not receive an email from us should contact us to confirm their eligibility," Kibbles said.Contact information is included in the personnel services delivery memorandum on the myPers website.Senior-rater endorsed statements of intent, completed via the Airman Development Plan, are required for those who intend to compete. They are also due to AFPC no later than April 16. Eligible officers who are not interested in squadron command must email their intent to decline consideration to AFPC by April 16, as well."Senior raters should consider the needs of the Air Force as well as officers' desires when recommending them for command opportunities," Kibbles said. "While all eligible officers should be encouraged to compete, raters should determine whether or not an applicant would be the best choice for squadron command."To be eligible, officers must be regular Air Force lieutenant colonels or selects, have an arrived on station date of Sept. 1, 2013 or earlier. Resident in Aerospace Medicine and senior developmental education in-residence students and SDE-equivalent students who will graduate in 2015 may apply. Colonels, colonel-selects, lieutenant colonels in the promotion zone, and otherwise eligible officers with permanent change of station orders for 2014 may not apply. Additional eligibility and ineligibility criteria are explained in the PSDM on myPers."Applicants who submit their senior-rater endorsed SOI are considered worldwide volunteers for any medical squadron commander openings in 2015, and officers nominated to compete for commander selection will remain eligible for other assignments until the candidate message is released," Kibbles explained. To review the personnel memo and full application/nomination procedures as well as full eligibility criteria, go to myPers.
