2015 Vanguard award nominations due Jan. 28 Published Oct. 14, 2014 By Janis El Shabazz Air Force Personnel Center Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas (AFNS) -- Nominations for the 2015 NCO Association Vanguard award are due to the Air Force Personnel Center by Jan. 28, Air Force officials said. The award recognizes one enlisted member from each of the uniformed services annually for an act of heroism that resulted in saving someone's life or preventing serious injury. The act must have occurred between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2014. The act must be a voluntary action initiated by the nominee and not a result of directions or orders. It must also have been a legitimate attempt to save a life or prevent serious injury to another person or people. Each major command, combatant command, field operating agency and direct reporting unit may nominate one person. Organizations and base-level personnel must contact their MAJCOM, COCOM, FOA or DRU for applicable suspense dates and additional information regarding nomination procedures.
