The 2015 Air Force Club Scholarship Program is accepting applications through midnight CDT, May 1.

Now in its 17th year, the program has provided almost $400,000 in college tuition assistance to more than 400 Air Force Club members and their families. This year, the program will award 40 scholarships totaling $25,000.

“Air Force Clubs and the Air Force Club scholarship program are a great Air Force tradition.  Our clubs support the Comprehensive Airman Fitness way of life, and contribute to unit cohesion and sense of community at locations worldwide,” said Col. Marc D. Piccolo, the Air Force Services Activity commander. “We’re proud to support and encourage the educational goals of our members and their families through the scholarship program.”

To apply, applicants must complete an online entry form and answer this year’s essay question: Are we too dependent on access to digital information systems (smart phones, tablets, computers, call centers, etc.), and how has this changed our lives, considering its readily available 24 hours a day?

Essays must be between 450 and 500 words and will be graded on relevance to topic question, content and grammar.  Judging will begin soon after the program deadline; winners will be notified by their installation June 1.

Open to new or current Air Force Club members in good standing and their eligible family members, the scholarship program is a perk of club membership. Entrants must be attending an accredited college or university, working toward their first associate or bachelor’s degree, or a graduating high school senior registered at an accredited college or university.
