FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md (AFNS) -- Betty O'Brien went from mother to caregiver after her son, Senior Airman Kevin O’Brien, was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 23-years-old in 2013.

The road to recovery has been long for Kevin; however, with the help of his mother, along with some hard work, dedication and the desire for independence, Kevin was able to take his first steps in 2015.

Kevin’s resiliency was rewarded as he gained enough strength to participate in the Air Force trials earlier this year – earning him a spot on the Air Force team for this year’s Department of Defense Warrior Games on Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia.
