FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. (AFNS) -- In this issue of Airman magazine, we remember those who were impacted by Hurricane Katrina when the storm hit land 10 years ago. The Airmen of Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, faced numerous challenges, from rampant debris to water damage, and came together to aid in the repair of their base and the surrounding community.

You’ll also read about the Hurricane Hunters who chase storms, like Katrina, from the air in a WC-130J Super Hercules. Their mission is to gauge the potential impact of each hurricane in order to help give early warning and hopefully prevent the future loss of lives.

Finally, we follow the journey of a pararescueman hoping to reconnect with a little girl that he rescued from the floods in New Orleans.
