Maj. Gen. Mark W. Gillette was recognized for his 40 years of service in the United States Army during a General Officer retirement ceremony conducted by the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" ceremonial units of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington (MDW) held at Conmy Hall, Fort Myer, Virginia, June 30, 2023. Maj. Gen. Mark Gillette has held many offices over his career including Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché to the United States Embassy in China, Deputy Director for Strategic Planning and Policy of the United States Pacific Command, Chief of Staff of the United Nations Command, and Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché to the United States Embassy in Egypt.
