DTRA's history begins with the #ManhattanProject, which then split into the Atomic Energy Commission and the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project (AFSWP) after WWII. #FSWP became the Defense Nuclear Agency (DNA), which became the Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA). In 1998, DSWA was combined with the On-Site Inspection Agency and the #Nunn-Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction Program to form DTRA.
