BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Senior Airman Alexis Maxfied listens as Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Gerald R. Murray discusses Air Force issues during a junior enlisted forum here March 6. Chief Murray chief visited Airman of the Vermont Air National Guard's 158th Fighter Wing to discuss the upcoming Community-Basing initiative. Under this initiative, the wing will serve as host of an active-duty detachment from Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. The detachment will include 13 Airmen, a lieutenant, a master sergeant and 10 new Airmen from various maintenance technical schools. The initiative is one of the Air Force's Future Total Force concepts for effectively integrating the active-duty, Guard and Reserve components. "Our new Airmen will learn a tremendous amount about maintaining our F-16 (Fighting Falcons) and equally as important, they'll learn about the ANG," said Chief Murray. "They will live, work and deploy together." Airman Maxfield is a crew chief. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Robert J. North)
