Operation Jet Stream

On April 7, 1958, Brig. Gen. William E. Eubank flew a KC-135 Stratotanker on the first around-the world jet flight during "Operation Jet Stream." This feat established three new records - a non-stop speed and time record from Tokyo to Washington, in 13 hours, 45 minutes and an unrefueled jet distance record of 10,288 miles from Tokyo to the Azores (U.S. Air Force photo illustration)
