American, Afghan docs begin surgical process for young burn victim
U.S. Army Dr. (Lt. Col.) Barry Steinberg gives the thumbs up indicating the surgery on Abdul Rahman, burn patient, was successful. Colonel Steinberg is a cranial-facial surgeon at the University of Florida, Jacksonville campus. While deployed, he is assigned to RC-South as a medical advisor for the Afghanistan National Security Forces. He and the Afghan medical staff at Kandahar Regional Medical Hospital performed the first of several planned surgeries for the 13 year old. He suffered burns to his chest and arms while cooking.
