Provincial government, American servicemembers dedicate midwifery program in Afghanistan
Dr. Mohammed Asif (right) gives a tour to Navy Lt. Jed Juachon (left) and Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Klint Kehley of the Kunar Midwifery Program training center Dec. 22 in Asadabad, Afghanistan. The midwifery program will train 24 women from Kunar province in an 18-month long course on providing prenatal and postpartum care to expectant mothers and their babies to decrease infant mortality rates. Doctor Asif is the Kunar director of midwifery program and provincial institutional development adviser. Lieutenant Kehley is a Kunar Provincial Reconstruction Team medical officer.
