Providing shelter is a BEAR

Airmen from the 49th Material Maintenance Group work to build a small shelter system during a Jan. 16 exercise at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. Members of the 49th MMG can build a Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resource, or BEAR, in austere conditions anywhere in the world. Airmen of the 49th MMG maintain a constant state of readiness and can be tasked to support any Department of Defense or Federal Emergency Management Agency humanitarian operations along with primary duties of supporting combat operations.
