German airman assists with Holloman ceremony
German air force Senior Airman Steffen Hanke holds the German flag while training with U.S. Air Force honor guard members of the 49th Mission Support Squadron Jan. 15 at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. Airman Hanke was selected to join the base honor guard team and has more than seven years of honor guard experience with the German air force. Holloman AFB is host to the German Air Force Tactical Training Center with more than 300 German air force members stationed there. Germany is one of the strongest allies of the U.S. in NATO and the joint training is important for allied armed forces to train together to ensure effectiveness when called upon to serve together.
