Reconstruction team aids Afghan communities
Senior Airman Robert Shuman observes activity outside his Humvee while on a canal assessment mission with the Nangarhar Provincial Reconstruction Team Nov. 10 in Afghanistan. The Nangarhar PRT is a joint team of Airman, Soldiers and representatives from the U.S. Department of State, Agency for International Development, and the Department of Agriculture. The team is responsible for helping the Afghanistan government improve security, governance and promote reconstruction in Nangarhar Province. The PRT assesses community needs, builds schools, government centers, roads, medical capabilities and basic infrastructure throughout Nangarhar; they also personally mentor Afghan government officials and security forces to provide the Afghan people with the state representation and security they need.
