Air Force Reserve stands up first F-22 Raptor unit

Several original Tuskegee Airmen and their spouses attended the 477th Fighter Group activation ceremony Oct. 2 at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. These famous African-American aviators are known for their unrivaled combat skills, earing two Presidential Unit citations during World War II. The 477th FG's heritage is rooted in the 477th Bombardment Group, a Tuskegee Airmen unit from the 1940s. The newly designated unit is the only Reserve F-22 Raptor unit in the Air Force.
