51st Fighter Wing Aces
Capt. Joseph McConnell Jr. became the 10th ace of the wing on Feb. 16, 1953. He became the second double ace of the wing on April 24, 1953, and the first triple ace on May 18, 1953. Capt. McConnell was the Top Ace of the Korean War (16 kills), and was assigned to the 39th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. (Courtesy photo)
