Air Force Combat Action Medal
Air Force Chief of Staff T. Michael Moseley hands a shadowbox of the Air Force Combat Action Medal to Tom Gilpin, the grandson of Air Force pioneer Brig. Gen. William "Billy" Mitchell, June 12 in Arlington, Va. The AFCAM takes its design from the markings on General Mitchell's aircraft and medal was designed for Airmen who have been directly in harm's way, engaging enemy forces. The decoration is the first of its kind for the Air Force. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. J.G. Buzanowski)
