Airmen deployed with Army return home
Airmen from the 3rd Air Support Operations Group return home to their North Central Texas post June 5 following a six-month deployment to Iraq. Nearly 90 Airmen from Fort Hood and Fort Carson, Colo., provided Army combat brigades with close-air support and overwatch during critical maneuvers for such units as the 1st Cavalry, 3rd Infantry, and 25th Infantry divisions, along with special operations forces. The battlefield Airmen from Fort Hood are tactical air control party and joint terminal attack controllers who provide a direct link between combat commanders on the ground and the pilots who provide close air and bombing support.
