WWII vet receives long-awaited medals
World War II veteran Tech. Sgt. Holt Thornton speaks with Col. Mark Kelly and Chief Master Sgt. Leroy Frink after a medal presentation ceremony Aug. 29, 2009 at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. Colonel Kelly presented Mr. Thornton with five medals for his service during World War II, including The Purple Heart and Air Medal. Mr. Thornton was a B-24 Liberator aerial gunner while part of the Army Air Corps, and spent his last three months in the service here. Colonel Kelly is the 4th Fighter Wing commander.
