Air Power summary for May 7, 2007

A British Royal Air Force GR4 Tornado takes on fuel May 8 from a KC-135 Stratotanker from the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing during an Operation Iraqi Freedom mission. KC-135 aircrews from the 340th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron offload about 1 million pounds of fuel each day to a variety of Air Force, Navy and coalition aircraft. Aerial refueling allows bomber, fighter and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft to maintain a persistent presence over the battlefield.
