517th C-130 Final Flight
A snow-covered C-130 Hercules assigned to the 517th Airlift Squadron at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, is towed into place for post operational procedures March 23 following a shut-down ceremony. After 43 years of continuous service in Alaska, the ceremony marked the end of the C-130 era at the 517th. Airmen at Elmendorf soon will see C-17 Globemaster IIIs taking over the airlift mission.
