Former POWs carry on American resolve

Roger White Jr., with the Texas Army National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 131st Field Artillery, was captured by Japanese forces March 8, 1942, while stationed on the island of Java in the Netherland East Indies. He spent the next three and a half years in POW camps, mostly in Camp Fukuoka No. 2, Japan, until the camp was liberated in August 1945. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff. Sgt. Shad Eidson)
