Humanitarian assistance
Members of the Panjshir Provincial Reconstruction Team and volunteers unload a 5-ton truckload of humanitarian assistance food supplies near Abdara, Afghanistan, on July 30. More than 180 Afghan locals are building a road by hand to connect three villages to the main road across the Panjshir River. Governor Haji Bahlol requested assistance for workers who are unable to provide for their families while building the road. The PRT also plans to provide tool kits with shovels, picks, hammers and other hand tools to assist with the project. (Courtesy photo/Shahla Hammond)
