Detainee training operations teach survival skills
Airman 1st Class Gordon Scott tries to wash pepper-spray out of his eyes after completing an obstacle course on April 25, 2006, during detainee training operations at Fort. Lewis, Wash. Getting sprayed and then negotiating an obstacle course teaches Airmen how to successfully function and protect themselves while feeling the effects of the spray. This training prepares Airmen by replicating situations they may encounter while deployed. Airman Scott is with the 99th Security Forces Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.
