A B-17G Flying Fortress nicknamed "Thunderbird" participates in a heritage flight with a B-52H Stratofortress from the 2nd Bomb Wing. The 2006 Defenders of Liberty Airshow at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., kicked off May 12 with a twilight show. The B-17G is owned by the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, Texas.
