Airman becomes Astronaut
NASA's newest class of astronauts conducts an emergency egress drill during 2004 ASCAN land survival training in the wilderness near Brunswick, Maine. In the foreground, left to right, astronaut candidates James Dutton Jr., Akihiko Hoshide, Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger and Satoshi Furukawa use a makeshift gurney to extract fellow astronaut candidate Robert Kimbrough from the woods. In the back, Joseph Acaba, Richard Arnold II, Robert Satcher Jr. and Thomas Marshburn carry Christopher Cassidy. Hoshide and Furukawa represent the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
