Can you hear me now?
BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. (AFPN) -- Lt. Col. Chris Rounds turns down the volume on his radio before takeoff. The colonel said he does not need as much volume as before due to the Air Force's newly approved attenuating custom communications earpiece system, or ACCES. Each earpiece is custom-fit to the individual's ear canal and contains a built-in speaker. When connected to an aircraft's communication system, it helps to enhance radio fidelity. The system also reduces ambient noise, increases situational awareness and protects against potential hearing loss. Colonel Rounds is assigned to the 93rd Bomb Squadron.
