Winter race
KNIK, ALASKA (AFPN) -- Maj. Tom Knolmayer waves to spectators at the start of the Knik 200 Sled Dog Race. Major Knolmayer and his nine-dog team finished the 200 mile race in 25 hours and 43 minutes, including a mandatory six hour rest stop for the dogs. The major was the first active-duty military member to complete the 1,100 mile Iditarod Sled Dog Race last year. He is planning to compete in this years' Iditarod.
