Airmen spruce up living space for retirees displaced by Katrina
WASHINGTON -- Tech. Sgt. Chris Longoria (left) and Master Sgt. Philip Krzywicki move furniture along with more than 100 volunteers from Bolling Air Force Base, D.C., on Aug. 31 to clean and set up 125 rooms at the Armed Forces Retirement Home here in preparation for the arrival of veterans displaced by the effects of Hurricane Katrina. More than 400 veterans from Gulfport, Miss., are being housed at the retirement home until their facility can be repaired, which is estimated to take more than a year. Sergeant Longoria is assigned to the Air Force media services headquarters and Sergeant Krzywicki is part of the U.S. Air Force Band. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Amber K. Whittington)
