SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Airman 1st Class Jason Hannah (left) and Senior Airman Rene Fernandez-Hernandez conduct a daily inspection of a mobile aircraft arresting system. The system can safely stop distressed fighter aircraft using cables and a complex braking system. The system is directly responsible for saving the lives of aircrew members and millions of dollars in aircraft costs each time it stops an aircraft. The Airmen are assigned to the 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron at a forward-deployed location. Airman Hannah is deployed from Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., and Airman Fernandez-Hernandez is from Robins AFB, Ga. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Alfred A. Gerloff Jr.)
