Rhein-Main transition on track
RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- A C-17 Globemaster III from Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., takes off from here on a return flight home. Ongoing construction on the parking ramp, part of the Rhein-Main Transition Program, will make Ramstein the new "Gateway to Europe" when Rhein-Main Air Base closes in December.
