An Air Force finish
GUTTENBERG, Iowa -- After 485 miles, standard-bearer Col. Bob Lindner leads Team Air Force cyclists into Guttenberg to end the 33rd Annual Des Moines Register Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. Following the flags in advance of the two-column formation are Col. Bob Norman and Lt. Gen. William Welser III. Riding into the last town in formation has become an Air Force tradition in the 11 years that Air Force teams have participated in the event. Colonel Lindner is from the University of Illinois ROTC detachment. Colonel Norman is assigned to the Tanker Airlift Control Center, and General Welser is the 18th Air Force Commander, both at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. (U.S. Air Force photo by Lisa Adamson)
