SOUTHWEST ASIA -- Airman 1st Class Desire Joe (left) and Senior Airman Stephen Phillips look for suspicious people and vehicles on the base's perimeter at a forward-deployed location. Airmen provide surveillance coverage for more than 120 square miles of territory outside the base perimeter and are the first line of defense against enemy infiltration and attack. The Airmen are assigned to the 386th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron. Airman Joe is deployed from Kadena Air Base, Japan, and Airman Phillips is deployed from Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.
